Anniversary! (playing catch up)

Our second anniversary was July 13. Which fell on a Monday. So that weekend we stayed at Park City. After checking into our hotel we walked down to one of the lifts and took a ride. It was a gorgeous view. On the way up I was nervous just because I don't like heights. But I refrained from any freaking out besides holding the bar with one hand. What was funny was that Matt started talking a lot. Then he admitted that he was nervous too. So we sat there the whole ride up imagining different ways of dying from falling off the lift. Once we reached the end we jumped off and walked around for a bit. The way back down was gorgeous. You could see the whole valley. After the lift we walked around and got some food.

When it came to Monday we both had some problems trying to surprise each other and I ended up ruining Matt's surprise :D. I wasn't working that day due to hurting my back at work. I had already been off a week and the doctor told me to take another week off. Who was I to argue? My sister Christy and her kids were in town from Wyoming and they were planning on going to Raging Waters with a bunch of our family. So I planned on going with them while Matt was at work. My niece Morgan didn't have her swimming suit so I drove up to Kaysville to grab it for her. Aren't I just the sweetest aunt? On the way back I devised a plan in which I could surprise Matt while he was on his route. I called up dispatch at work and asked where would be the best place for a surprise. They gave me and address and a time for a dropbox that he would be picking up. So I hurried to Raging Waters and dropped off Morgan's swimming suit and told my family what I was doing. I went home and cutified for Matt. I figured he'd like that better than me in my basketball shorts. I grabbed the card that I had bought a week before that then ran and bought some balloons. Deseret Book was right next to Zurchers so I ran in and looked for something that he might like but couldn't find what I wanted. So after grabbing the balloons I wanted I jumped in line. To my dismay I managed to get behind one of the slowest people ever who wear blinders on the sides of their eyes and fail to see there are other people in the world. I stood there for about twenty minutes. I was supposed to be at the dropbox at 6-6:30 and I wanted to get there before 6 just in case he was there early. I only had about ten minutes to get there by this time. Once I finally got my balloons filled I ran to my TRUCK...I didn't think about this...I had HUGE balloons and a tiny Ford Ranger truck cab to fit them in. I sat there for a couple minutes trying to get the balloons to behave and stay down...but what kind of balloons to that when they have helium in them. So I did the only thing I could do and drove to the dropbox with one hand holding the balloons while trying to shift and steer. A dangerous game that luckily I won. I reached the address of the dropbox but wasn't sure exactly where it was located. The dropboxes could be anywhere within the building, in front, behind, etc. So I drove around the block looking for parking. When I pulled up on the road behind the building I saw a FedEx truck and squealed with glee. Literally. I parked behind it threw on my hazards, grabbed the balloons and ran up to the truck. The bulk head door was open so that meant someone was in the back. "Hellllloooooo," I said in exuberant glee. Then of course Clay popped his head out. Crap! I asked Clay where Matt's dropbox was and if he knew if he already picked it up. He pointed me in the right direction but I still didn't have a parking spot. I stuffed the balloons back in the truck and drove about a hundred feet down the road and there was a parking garage I pulled up but it said that I needed to pay first. I told the man in the booth that I was trying to surprise my husband and if I could pay after. He said that was fine so I hurried and parked and started running to where Clay had told me to go. Probably not a good thing when you have a hurt back. I reached the dropbox and no one was around. I threw the card in the dropbox and tied the balloons to the handle. I ran behind some trees and watched impatiently. One of the balloons popped from the heat. I screamed a little and ran to the balloons and brought them into the trees to hide with me. It had been about ten minutes when he hadn't come. I began to think he wasn't coming. I called dispatch and they said they had already been there. That meant that he had picked up the packages and left when I was talking to Clay. They said they would send him a pickup for the same dropbox saying there was an angry customer there. So I grabbed the card out of the dropbox and waited. About five minutes later I saw Matt drive right by the dropbox and around the corner. I started running after him to see where he was going. I called him up and asked him nonchalant what he was doing. He told me how he was almost back to the station and dispatch sent him to pick up a package from an angry customer who wasn't even there. I finally had to tell him that I was trying to surprise him and told him where I was. Turns out he went a bit dislexic in his rush and went to the wrong dropbox. When he pulled up I gave him the balloons and card. I told him sorry for making him upset. He then told me the only reason why he was upset was because he was trying to get off early for a surprise reservation at The Roof he had setup. He tried to change the time later but they were all full. It was really funny that we both tried so hard to surprise each other but they both didn't work out so well. So instead of The Roof we went to The Outback Steakhouse and had a fun night together.
