I moved back up to SLC to go to school. I wanted a part time job that also had tuition reimbursement. So I started working for UPS as a part time handler. While I was going through my training my trainer took the group of us around to all the different 'belts' we were going to be working on. I was going to be working on the Pink belt and my belt was the first one we stopped at. She went and grabbed the supervisor in charge of the Pink belt to meet me. Guess who it was. It was Matthew. When she introduced me to him he just sat there and stared at me with his dirty face. I felt really awkward and didn't know what to do. I was going to shake his hand but he just sat there...so we continued on our way. Once I was through with my training I started loading my own truck with a trainer hanging out making sure I could stack boxes. Really hard, right? I remember my first interaction with Matt. I don't think I even remembered his name at the time. It was my first night loading my truck. It was a California truck. He walked up and was talking to my trainer. I guess he thought I couldn't hear him or see that he was holding a box. He told my trainer he was going to 'SALT' me with a NY box. Salting was pretty much the management making sure the loaders were reading what they were scanning into their trailers. Obviously since I was in a California trailer, NY didn't belong. I smiled to myself and watched as the box slowly made it's way to me. When I took it out of the truck both Matt and my trainer told me good job. I looked at Matt and raised my eyebrows and told him I heard him tell Muhrdad that he was throwing a NY box in my trailer. Next time he should talk quieter. From then on Matt would visit my trailer every night pretty much, and talk to me for a while. On an average I would say twenty minutes a night altogether. I enjoyed talking to him, and was at ease from the very beginning with him. After being there a couple of months I set him up with a friend and we went on a double date. The whole time I knew we would end up dating, but I was letting it take it's proper course. He had mentioned on the double date that his parents had horses. I kept bugging him about riding them. So one weekend we were going to go ride them. What I didn't know is that his parents didn't have their horses anymore and hadn't had them for months. Matt acted like it was a surprise to him but it was a setup. So instead we went to the Boondocks. Soon enough we were hanging out all the time. Then decided to 'officially' date. A month later we had our first kiss. Then five months later we were engaged. Then married three months after that. In total we knew each other for just shy of a year before getting married. We were married July 13, 2007. It was a Friday. :)
